what is the portable hard drive adapter called?

what is the portable hard drive adapter called i’ve searched all over the internet and i keep finding desktop adapters. my portable western digital hard drive adapter was damaged but the hard drive works fine as a internal but i want to keep it external and so i need to buy the adapter but i need to know the name i figured it was called Usb to sata adapter or something like that but i keep finding internal desktop cables. Any help appreciated
