What to Choose for Development

In the Current Scenario what we have to choose, and give me some documentation on

Why Not to Choose Microsoft Products comparing with the Open source Products.

And another one is for 300 thinclients with ICA Protocol, 100 PCS. what we have to select the operating system as our work is to Type the docuemtns and to take the prints on Wipro LQ1050+DX and to store large data in the database and we have good network structure.
