After receiving the Win2K Pro e-newsletter from TechRepublic on 2/5 which was about improving performance, I tried the tip. Basically, it was about removing an orphaned pagefile.sys from %systemroot%. The problem was that you could not change the pagefile size through the normal gui process. I happened to be having that problem and my OS kept telling me that my pagefile was too small and it (the OS) was changing it automatically.
So I went through the process; I located the pagefile.sys in my root directory then restarted the system to recovery console but could not find the offending file. I rebooted back to GUI normal mode and could not find the file that was just there 2 minutes ago??? I’m still having the “not enough pagefile” problemeven though I have plenty allocated… help please.
Thanks
