Which Controller Card to Use?

I have a dell tower, using Rambus 800 memory. The built in motherboard hard driver controller both went out. I inserted an ATA100 controller card and now the machine runs slower than heck. I am assuming I need to match the controller card to the bus speed of the motherboard? I believe the bus speed on this board is 100, any ideas?
