My institution has begun piloting several mobile applications using handheld and tablet PCs. Still small scale, restricted to two nursing units. We have of late experienced issues with dropped connections and large fluctuations in signal strength. We have looked at several solutions for monitoring wireless connections, but so far all we have found are enterprise wide solutions. Do any of you wonderful people use or have suggestions for small scale apps that can monitor and log WiFi connectivity?
Right now I can do a sort of ad hoc type survey with my handheld PC, but there is no logging on the device. Ideally, we are looking for a application to load on a laptop, or possibly a device designed specifically for this purpose. This we would station in an area and then it would monitor signal strength and continuity, and we could then download a log. Portability and small scale are the keywords.
