Win 2000 isn’t releasing the ip lease

Windows is not releasing the DHCP lease on shutdown. I found one that is to write a batce file ipconfig/release and copyed to shutdown script under windows . what like do is to find a way to write a script in windows that it will relase the ip address when windows shuts dwon. Or is there anyting that any one can think about to solve this problem.
