Win 95 hangs on disconnect from ISP

I am really stuck. I have an Omnibook 6000 laptop with a 3Com 56K V.90 Mini PCI Modem, running Windwows 95, Every time I disconnect from my dial up connection, it freezes my computer. Upgrading to a higher Windows version is not a possiblity for 6 months. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
