Win 95 lockup.

I installed an interactive learning piece of software on my Windows 95 laptop. The program was running smoothly, I hit the pause button and folded up the laptop. A few moments later I went back to continue the program when I recieved the question asking if I wanted to continue with the program, press “y” or hit enter to continue. I hit enter then the screen went blank. Hitting ctrl-alt-del had no effect, trying this several times I gave up and tried to restart the machine. The only response that I got was two short beeps! The machine will not shut down as of now. I thought two short beeps was a memory problem, note that I have adaquate memory and hard drive space and never had a problem with this machine. Any suggestions?
