Hello all!
Have a story here so bear with me. I found that
my DHCP was not set up right, and since fixing
it my only Wind 98 box has not been able to
connect to the network correctly.
What I have found is if I set the WINS resolution
to “Uses DHCP…” and try to logon, I get a
“Domain not avilable to XXX your password…”
If I click “OK” and continue the log on, under
Network Neighborhood, I can see most of the
other terms (running wind 2000) on the network
but can not access any of the shared files. I
can not see the server (running 2000 sever),
but most of the client-server apps work.
Now if I set the WINS to “Enable WINS…” and
hard code the WINS server IP. I do not get
the error message at log-in, but I can only
see the server in Network Neighborhood. My
c/s apps still work, but I still cannot gain
access to any of the other terms.
IPCONFIG shows I am getting data from DHCP,
and correct IPs for DNS and WINS. I think
the error lies in the DNS or WINS server,
and not on the 98 Box?
Any feedback would help as I have to access
one of the term to run an app loaded on it,
and no, I can not move it to the server.
Thanks!
Ray
