Win 98 Confused by my modem and printer

My parents old computer has Win98 (TinyPC from 3 year ago+). The USB printer(X75 Lexmark) no longer works and the modem (PCTel D-1156IV/P2A), after a Win98 reinstall, isn’t being recognized. I got rid of IRQ conflicts (I think) and I downloaded the modem drivers but still nothing. The printer won’t print, it just quit after working for several weeks. Help?!
