WIN ME install failure

HI!
I formated my friends HD and tried to install WIN ME. That operation has been done twice so far.

The install process works fine up to the last step.
It then stops and a window stating a “kernel32” error pops up plus a “runndll” eror. Everything freezes.
The installation process can’t be completed.

I can’t figure out what causes such a problem.
Is it the disk, the OS? or something else?

I need aome advice please.
