Win NT4 – Dead Gateway Detection

If two default gateways are assigned, and the first one goes down, I can’t seem to get the client to use the second one. If I manually promote the second gateway to the number one spot, then it works fine. NT is supposed to deted that the first one is “dead”, right? I need some info here. THANKS!
