Win XP Pro Won’t load just shuts PC down

by anigwa . Updated 24 years ago

I istalled XP on my PC as an upgrade frome 98. When installed I could get as far as entering my password then I would get a blank screen and lockup as XP went to load. I finally got it to load and then I got a blue screen error. I can’t remember allof it but I believe the most important is as follows: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0X000000D1 (0X00000000,0X00000002,0X00000000,0X00000000)
Beginning physical memory dump.
The rest had to do with checking hardware instalation which I did. While the PC was up I did a capadability check and had no conflicks. I then took a new HD and did a clean install of XP using NTFS files. Now the computer actually shuts off after entering the password when XP starts to load. I can hear a click in the PC when it shuts down. AMD Slot A 750Mhz,Maxtor HD,LG CD-RW rom, Aureal Vortex Sound, VooDoo3 Video,Gateway Jabil(kadoka)AMD Motherboard.
Hope someone has the answer, PLEASE!

Thanks,
Ron
