Configuration:
Laptop PC with Infrared port
Windows 2000 Professional
What I can do?
I can connect two laptops using Infrared connection and exchange data between them.
What I would like to do?
I would like to connect my Siemens S35 mobilephone to my laptop using Infrared.
Why I cannot do this?
Because my mobile phone software wants to connect to COM port. I tested the software with serial cable and it works OK using regular COM port.
The problem is that my Infrared port does not behave as a COM port. In the past (on Windows 9x) I saw that a virtual COM and LPT ports would be assigned to Infrared ports, but it is not the case with Windows 2000.
I suppose that I need to download some program from somewhere that would enablevirtual COM port to be mapped to infrared port.
I also tried with various BIOS settings (FIR, SIR with and without DMA etc), but it didn’t help.
Any hints?
