Win2k add/remove programs error

by silverb . Updated 24 years, 4 months ago

A client of mine gets the following error when trying to use add/remove programs.
Error:
“Object doesn’t support this property or method rez://appwiz.cpl/default.hta
Line 75”

I have tried following all the instructions given in the Microsoft article No Q266668, (apart from the final suggestion which is re-install OS). Nothing worked though. This is the second time this problem has occured within a month. I fixed it the first time by re-installing Windows, and guess that is what will have to be done again. However, I would like to get to the bottom of what might be causing it. It has been suggested that McAfee QuickClean could be the culprit. I have removed that just in case.

I would be greatful for any ideas concerning this. i.e. What I can do to fix it, and what might be causing it to happen. The machine was originally upgraded from Win98SE.

A chap called ‘Ashton’ had the same problem but I’m not sure whether he found a ‘fix’ or not.

Thanks
