Win2k duplicating users

Win2k is duplicating users when they log off, for example jsmith logs off when they log back on all there Desktop outlook ect.. is gone but when you go into My Computer, local, Docs and settings you will see a jsmith folder then see a jsmith001 log off/on see jsmith002 and so on everytime log off/on so far we have gone about by transfering there docs from first folder to a backup drive and reimaging from ghost it has only happened to about 6 PC on 700 PC network and advice be appreciated
