Win2k install failure

I am trying to upgrade the OS from nt4 to win2k on a compaq machine without a cd-rom drive. I installed a backpak to serve as the cd drive. Once installation copied some files, the pc reboots, but can’t see the backpack. Now i am hung up, because NT will not boot either. How can I commplete installation???
