Win2K Pro clients in NT 4.0 Domain

I have a domain with a local BDC and a PDC across a slow WAN link. I need to have the Win2K clients authenticate on the local BDC as they run location specific logon scripts (there is no replication of the netlogon share). I have worked around this by pointing the script on the PDC back to the local server but there are obvious drawbacks to this. I can run setprfdc in the login script but I really want it to run before they login. Can anyone help?
