I am trouble shooting a Compaq machine running windows 2000 Pro. The OS and applications run just fine. It is also associated with a Peer-to-Peer Network with 1 other PC and a shared printer.
The system requires a Cntrl-Alt-Del and a password to login at startup. However the problem is it won’t remember any other passwords, such as MS Outlook 2000 pop3 mail accounts, or any secure webpages that require a login. Normally, when on a web page, when you enter a user ID & Password, the OS will prompt “Do you want windows to remember this password?”. This one dosen’t remember or ask. In MS Outlook, when started, it prompts for the mail account password. After it is entered (and the remember password check box is checked), it will send/ receive new mail. However, when choosing send/ receive again, it prompts for the password again??? There must me a “toggle” or a policy somewhere that needs to be changed to tell windows to “Remember Passwords” again.
