WIN2k Pro WS unable to browse network

I have a 2000 domain (mixed mode), 20 workstations 200 & 98. One win 2k ws boots fine
runs logonscripts and maps drives with no problems. When trying to browse to network I get the following error. “domain not available, an invalid operation was attemted on an active network connection”.
I have checked time sync, subnet info and computer account info. The PC can be browsed from all others on the network. I search MS Knowlege Base but found no answers. I have changed users, and machine name. Ialso re-applied all the updates. what gives.
