Hi all,
I am trying to… Sync a Compaq Ipaq h3870 PocketPC, connected to an HP T5000 thin client
(with XPe operating system) which is used to connect to a Windows 2003 server running terminal services.
What happens… It does appear that the serial connection is being redirected properly as when starting “get connected” in activesync, the IPaq comes up with “Connecting to host”. but after a few retries, the computer comes up with
“Microsoft Active-Sync does not recognise the device thatis trying to connect”…
To allow clients to use a thin client but connect their Ipaq to the T5000 and still sync with Outlook (etc) via a terminal service session.
The problem is that I can’t get ActiveSync to recognise the device.
I have:
* Made sure that redirection of serial ports is enabled in the terminal
server config.
* Made sure all COM port parameters are the same baud rate (9600)…
* Redirected the COM1 port of the server to the com1 port of the thin
client. Using the command “net use com1: \\tsclient\com1”, although this doesn’t seem to be needed under Win2k3 as the port shows as being redirected…
* Made sure that the Ipaq and T5000 have the latest ROM and any other updates i could find.
* Found the registry locations and modified the ones forcing (documented on Compaq website) the connection to use a serial connection but to force a lower baud rate… also tried lowing baud rates.
* Implemented the following softpac’s…
SP16776 – USB/Serial update – forces system to use COM1.
SP18327 – Serial connection fix.
None of this worked.
Also tried:
* connected the Ipaq cradle directly to the COM1 port of the server. At first it would not connect but after several attempts it finally connected
and allowed a partnership to be setup.
So it really looks like the systems are not waiting long enough for the Ipaq
to respond to the server…
Any help greatly appreciated!
