When opening Word, Excel, or Outlook 97 (under win2kpro), there is a time lag during which no disk activity and no CPU activity occurs. The win/temp folders have been cleared out as well as the temp internet files folders.
What could be going onhere, and how can the time lag be eradicated?
There isn’t anything happening – the machine is 99% idle and the only process taking CPU time is the task manager to say that nothing else is using the CPU. I tried considering the network, but it takes 3.5 mins to show the splash screen. I don’t think the network could be holding that up . . .
The performance balancing is set for applications, the graphics perform perfectly (taking up CPU, responding on time, etc . . . ) both around and during the interval of inactivity awaiting the startup of Office applications.
Q167081 considered not to be a resolution since the CPU isn’t doing anything!
