I have a Windows 95 machine with file sharing enabled and a hard drive defined as a shared device. However, this particular share requires a password to access the drive.
From a client machine on the LAN, when a user attempts to access that shared drive, that user is prompted to supply the required password. Within that dialogue box requesting the password is a check box asking if the user wants to, “Save this password in your password list”. It appears that the default setting is a “checked” box, which will, of course, save that password on that client machine.
I want to change the default setting of that dialogue box to have an “unchecked” “Save password….” check box. I don’t want to have to uncheck it every time. (There have been a couple of instances when I overlooked that box, mistakenly saving the password.) I will never want to save that password on one of those client machines.
Is there a registry setting that controls this setting? Is there something else that controls it? How can I change that default from a “checked” check box to an “unchecked” one?
Thanks for your time.
