Win95 won’t install

by blackcurrant . Updated 24 years, 5 months ago

Hi

I am trying to install a copy of Win95 on a machine. The machine used to have Win95, but was operating erratically – rebooting by itself, inexplicably crashing…

I used Fdisk to repartition the drive (1500MB), then formatted it. I inserteda Win95 OSR2 disk into the CD drive and copied the setup files to windows\options\cabs. When I run setup the process checks the drives, displays the EULA, then displays an error message which says:

ERROR SU-0013 Setup cannot create files on your startup drive.

I have tried to reinstall Win95 using a CD that came with a new computer, but this has failed as well. I have used these disks to install Windows to newly partitioned drives in the past without incident.

Apparently, setup needs an MS-DOS Boot partition. Can anyone tell me what to do so that I can install Windows95?

Any help will be gratefully received…

Thanks
