Win98/2k peer to peer network/ICS setup

by mr. origami . Updated 25 years, 5 months ago

Scenario:
Win98 desktop with 2 NICs. One connected to @home cable modem. Other connected to hub. Win2k Pro laptop with 1 NIC connected to hub getting IP address from DHCP (Win98 ICS).
Win98 has ICS installed as well as Client For MS Networks and TCP/IP. Win2k has same MS Client and TCP/IP. Can brwose internet on both machines fine. Cannot connect to other computer though. To transfer files, I’m having to use FTP right now. Need to share folders. I type \\ or <\\ in Run box and get error “Cannot find network name/address” – this happens on both machines. But I can ping both machines (with private IP). Win98 primary login set to Windows Login. Does it have to be set to the Client? How do I set this up to share theinternet connection and share folders?
