Windows 2000 Device Manager

I recently installed W2k at home. The drivers for my NIC and ATA/100 Controller card do not “stick” once updated. When I reboot, the drivers “disappear” back to being listed in the “OTHER” menu. I have no idea what W2k is not doing. I have downloaded W2k SP2 and current drives for both devices… ??? Never sen this before.
