Windows 2000 , DirectX problem

I have Visual Studio 6 installed on my machine.

I have an application that uses ACE-TAO for CORBA, ZAF, Direct X and Windows SDK calls.

This causes my machine to hang in the Debug mode. I have to reboot my machine by turning off the power and turning it on again. The machine just fails to respond. This happens very often, repeatedly.

I am using the latest download of DirectX, DirectX 8.0a.

Is there any known incompatibilty b/w DirectX and ZAF or ACE-TAO ?
