I have a small LAN, it has two servers, each running Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
Server #1 is the Domain Controller for my LAN (IP 192.168.0.2), obviously Active Directory is installed.
Server #2 is a machine I wanted to use for my Web/FTP server. In order to add a user for the FTP site, the user must be added as a user on the machine through Active Directory Users (I believe).
When trying to install Active Directory on Server #2, using the Wizard, no matter what choice I make, (Child Domain, whatever…) I get the error:
“The wizard cannot gain access to a list of domains in the forest. The error is: The specified domain does not exist or cannot be contacted”
Server #2, when logging in does log into the domain run by Server #1. Either as administrator, or myself a member of administrators.
Server #2, when running the wizard, will shoy my domain in a list, but when clicked on gives the above error!
Server #1, does I believe, have DNS running correctly.
I am kind of a novice at this, but any help would be most appreciated!!!
