Windows 2000 install

I recently installed Windows 2000 on two Compaq laptops. One is a Compaq presario 1255 and the other is an Compaq Armada 1700. I can not get Win2000 to recognize the built in modems in ethier laptop. The generic LTwin drivers do not properly install the modems and Compaq does not offer much support on the topic. Has anyone have any suggestion or been down this path?
