Windows 2000 IP Conflict

Every time i change my ip address to any free number the following error message appears. “the system detected an address conflict for ip address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx witht eh system having network hardware address xxxxxxxx. network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result. I have checked the mac address in my event viewer anc cant find a match on any other pc.
