Windows 2000 peer to peer network

Currently we run a peer to peer network with a mix of win 98 and win 2000 computers.

The windows 2000 computers connect to each other, but the win 98 computers ask for a password. What is this password they are looking for? They can’t communicate with the win 2000 computers.
