Windows 2000 Printing

by dshearer . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

I currently have a Windows 2000 print server (single 733MHz, 512MB RAM) with a total of 45 printers configured on it. The server manages HP IIId, 2500C’s, 4 +, a mix of 5 Si’s, 5000’s, 8100’s, and 8500’s. It also manages Xerox and SATO printers. The problem is that all of the 5 Si’s will run great for 2 days and then begin to slow down until either the printouts will contain garbare or they will not print at all. This only happens to the 5 Si’s. I will then remove the printers and the driver from the server, re-install them, and go through this process again in 2 days. I have tried different versions of the driver. I kept my old NT print server with these printers defined there and they work fine. Most of the clients are still NT. I have a few machines printing to these printers using their local spooler and they seem to still function correctly. Any ideas as to what the problem may be?
