Windows 2000 server joining an NT domain

Will I have any problems with having a windows 2000 member server join an NT domain. As it sits now the server is on the network (not part of any domain) and I can get to it but I would like to put user data on it and will need the existing users and groups from NT.
My plan is to add the server to the domain in mixed mode. I’m concerned that it will mess things up. Should I be concerned? Any help is appreciated.
