Windows 2000 shutdown

On a windows 2000 proffessiona workstation, standalone, after selecting shutdown, windows closes and prepares to shutdown. I now get a message it is now safe to turn off your system. How do I get windows to power down automatically as it prior to 2000 install? By the way, this was a clean install, not an upgrade and its an IBM 300PL desktop.
