Windows 2000 shuts off for no reason

When I try to use outlook express mail, about 90% of the time my windows 2000 machine completely shuts off…What could be causing this problem? All I do is double click on the outlook express icon or if by chance i can actually enter the program, i may be able to click on compose new message or something and then all of a sudden my machine will shut off. Please help!
