I have just upgraded my home network to use Windows 2000 server (I used to have Win2000 Pro), I did have 3 other PC’s using one internet connection (standard Dialup) without any problems, then I move to Win2000 Server and now the only thing that works is Microsoft messenger from the computers (all Win 98 PC’s).
I have set up DHCP on the server with the same range as given when I clicked on ICS. It was something like 10.10.1.1 when I installed it (nothing I did though) then when I clicked on ‘share internet connection’ it told me it was going to change. Which it did to 192.168.1.X.
Can anyone tell me how I can set up internet connection for this server, I have tried bits and pieces but still no joy, it’s almost as if the other users don’t have permission to access http files?
I am new to Win2000 server so please be gentle with me 🙂
It did install something different I think it was called Active server for the user accounts etc.
I have tried using static IP addresses for the clients but still no joy? Tried disabling DNS and anything else I could see on previous posted questions.
Any help would be appreciated.
