Windows 2000 status code 128

At various times users have logged on to their machines only to get a message stating that their machine is going to shut down in 60 seconds. The only thing in common with the message is status code 128. We have one computer that continually generates the problem, usually in services.exe, and is being used to test solutions. We have already tried deleting corrupted log files to no avail.
