Windows 2000/Word 2000 – printing slow

On a Windows 2000 machine, Word 2000 takes forever to print. We tried turning off background printing in Word. We have done all of the Microsoft updates for Windows 2000 and Word 2000. We have tried installing the printer locally according to Microsoft’s instructions. The same printer is working fine on another Windows 2000 machine.
