Windows 98

Windows 98 suddenly goes to black screen and hangs when in Outlook Express. Only has happened since Outlook Express version 5.50 was installed. Program has been removed and reinstalled but problem continues. Cannot seem to find the problem. Any helpwould be appreciated.
