Windows 98 and MSDOS memory management

I have a few Win 98 Machines hooked up to a Novell 3.x network and run DOS applications. I’ve been getting an error message on some of the machines when I right click on the DOS application shortcut and look in EMS settings. It states “Third partymemory management software is not configured for EXP memory..” I do not have any third party software on the system that I’m aware of. When I run MSD it shows the machines EXP as negative. Not all of the machines in the network have this problem. Is anyone aware how to fix this?
