Windows 98, IE6 and Java Virtual Machine

Recently, I upgraded my Internet Explorer to version 6. Since then, everytime I go to a site that needs to use the Java Virtual Machine I get a dialog box stating “to view this page correctly that I need to download and install Java Virtual Machine”. Well, I’ve downloaded the latest version for Windows 98 and installed but I still get this error. I’ve tried lowering my security settings and still have the problem. This didn’t happen until I upgraded to IE6. An example of a page where I get thiserror is “www.allegancounty.org” although it happens on many sites. I’ve also searched the Microsoft site Knowledge base but couldn’t find an answer. Please help.
