Hi:
I am unable to get a clean install of windows 98 first edition on my computer.
I have had it running for 2 years without much problem, but a few days ago I was getting alot of windows crashes. dll files and etc errors, windows became unstable…
I had removed alot of software recently and have been using my computer mostly for my music recording. Which I know is alot of wear on the hard drive. I attributted the windows crashes to this removal of software.
I decided to back up my files and fdisk and mat, and start a fresh installation.
Now I cannot seem to get a clean installation of win 98, its get to about 10% of the installtion left, does the restart and then I get windows blue screen with messages like Fault in 0E 0028:c00051ef in VXD Vmm(01) etc, also on the boot I get messages like Divid over flow error.
I had replaced the CD rom reader think perhaps its not reading the cd rom of windows 98 clearly but I am still having the same problems. I plan on replacing the Hard Drive and trying it again. But would like to know if its something else before going threw that procedure.
If anyone can give any help, It would be much appreciated.
MY computer specs.
Tiger system, I have a pent 2, 350 mhz BX motherboard. 6.4 gb HD. I wave a scsi Yamah burner, and IDE Cd rom reader.128 mb ram 100 mhz bus…
thanks, Todd
