Windows 98 Networking

Good day everyone. I am just wondering if its possible to network just 2 computers using network card e.g 3com card without using a hub to connect them. what i mean is they will be directly connected using Network card and a RJ45 configuration no hub is used. i am using windows 98 second edition on both computers, and if its possible to interconnect them what should i possibly do. thanks
