Windows 98 shutdown problems

by david . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

Using Windows98 se and client32.33 on a novell network, client stations do not shutdown. When shutting down, they hang at the screen “Windows Shutting Down please wait”. This happends after opening applications and sending data through the NIC. IfI boot the station, login to the server, then shutdown without doing anything else it will shutdown correctly. If I run any applications, 50% of the time (or more) the station will hang during the shutdown process. I have done a “ctrl+alt+del” andendtask any open programs then tried to shut down and it still does not work. I have swapped nics (different brand) and changed pci slots. I was told that there are often IRQ conflicts this does not seem to be the case. Using Asus mother boards and dlink 528 & 530 NICs – Thanks, David (david@davelle.com)
