Windows and Power saving

If I leave a laptop running, the power saving feature get it to standby, but to reactivate the system, I had to turn it off (Cut off the power) then restart it.
I think the problem is windows drivers and power option.
Any suggestion to solve this in addition to upgrade drivers and windows?
