Windows install

I’m having problems installing windows xp on my hard drive. I get a serious error message or sometimes it can not transfer some files.
I ran into this problem trying to install other windows versions on the hard drive.
The drive was fdisked and reformatted by xp.
I also disabled the cache in the bios.
