Windows Internet Extension Problems

I upgraded AOL From 5.0 to 7.0. Now I can’t access the internet. I get this error message: “An internal error occurred in the windows internet extention.” I am using internet explorer 4.0. with win98. Can you please tell me how to correct this problem?
