windows lockup updating system

I installed win95 on a 120 MHz NEC computer,after the reboot it wants to find the plug & play devices,and lockup during the search.
I tried removeing all the memory and changing hard drives even removeing modem, sound card and reinstalling win89 and win95,i also flash the bios. Can anybody help!!!!
