Windows ME

I have tried everything to get my sound to work with ME. My sound card is Creative Ensoniq Audio PCI . I have downloaded the lastest drivers for the card so the card can run in ME but no avail. All my volume levels are on full and my sound is barely audible.
can anyone please help me with this. I have tried the stuff ME Troubleshooting says and that just leads me to a dead end.
