Windows ME

I have one user! (out of 300) who is using windows me! Damn remote sites! Anyway, we need to repair the operating system (DLL and other various errors assoicated with op sys). We have decided that just reinstalling the op system would be the best option. My question is this: Can windows ME be installed over the top of the exzisting op system , and if so, (2) Does it effect the settings and other applications currently installed. I need some specifics so if you can post a technical reference along with your answer I would greatly appriciate it.
